Adding CBD To Your Skincare Routine

Updated: Dec 18, 2020

It’s only the beginning of 2019, and yet the beauty industry is buzzing with CBD products popping up. CBD is the hottest new trend in the beauty industry, and who can blame anyone for wanting to take their skin to a higher level. However, can CBD really help improve your skin, and if so, how?

What is CBD?

There is much confusion around this topic, which is why we have created a guide that will help you navigate the difference between Cannabis, Hemp, and Marijuana. To check that out click here.

Why CBD?

The root of many skin problems stems from skin inflammation; skin problems such as acne and rosacea are prime examples. This is why CBD’s anti-inflammatory properties and antioxidant properties can reduce puffiness, swelling, and even soreness, says Jessica Assaf, The Cannabis Feminist. Skin-care products that contain CBD can also promote overall skin health, CBD antioxidants work to undo skin damage from various outdoor elements

(pollution and sun).

Yet, CBD skin-care products are not just good for the appearance of your skin, in fact, CBD has been known to potentially aid with irritation and discomfort. Lotions and balms have been the salvation for many such as “review for the balm from GGH” A New York-based dermatologist, Joshua Zeichner, MD explains why this may be true, “CBD binds to a special set of receptors in the skin known as TRPV-1 receptors, where it can help feelings of heat, itch, and pain, this explains why it has a soothing effect on the skin.”

How to Incorporate CBD in Your Skincare Routine?

When it comes to skincare, topicals are key. It is best to avoid smoking, as smoke, regardless of the substance is not favorable to healthy skin. In fact, if one's goal is primarily skincare, products such as CBD moisturizers, CBD balms, CBD Cleansers, CBD Bath Bombs, and CBD Face Masks might be the way to go.

The key is to make sure that whatever products you decided to purchase come from a reputable company. A company that does not use harsh chemicals, and who is able to back what they say. Having a good routine down is also essential to healthy skin. Let us know below in the comments what your skin concerns are, and if you have incorporated CBD in your skincare routine?
