5 Tips For Millennials Dealing With Anxiety

Did you know that millennials are thought to be the most anxious generation of all time! In fact, The American Psychiatric Association (APA) conducted a survey which shows that millennials tend to be more anxious than their parents! The reason? Millennials carry the burden of larger student loan debt, lower unemployment rate, and are less likely to own a home as past generations at the same age.

Being able to pay bills is the number one reason millennials quote for feeling the most stress, and who can blame them when Millennials between the ages of 25 and 34 have an average of $42,000 in debt each, according to Northwestern Mutual's 2018 Planning & Progress Study, with an  average entry-level job salary in the U.S. is $28,000!

However, millennials are extremely aware of issues such as mental health, actively engaging in conversation and seeking out help. We praise this, and truth be told we encourage actively seeking out help! Today we’ve come up with 5 helpful tips to help you cope with anxiety.

Put Down The Starbucks...And The Vodka

Both coffee and alcohol have been linked to enhancing the effects of anxiety, even to the point of causing panic attacks. We’re not saying cut coffee and alcohol completly out of your life, sometimes you need a caffeine boost, or a glass of red wine after work, but being aware of how often you are consuming these substances and how they are affecting your daily life is very important.

Take A Break

Everyone now a days is on the go. American tend to live a fast paced life, constantly immersing  themselves at work, working extra hours, or living the busy student life. However, rest is necessary, in fact it is essential to controlling anxiety. Starting to feel anxious, take a break, listen to calming music, do yoga, meditate, do something that makes you happy and that aids in relaxation.

Be Aware

Learning what triggers your anxiety is one of the most important tips that we could offer you. Sitting down with yourself and being honest about what is causing anxiety ( family, friends, job, school, etc.) is imperative because you cannot fix, or control what you are not aware of.

Try CBD

Cannabidiol or CBD is a non-psychoactive (non-intoxicating) component of the cannabis plant. Unlike marijuana, CBD will not result in a feeling of euphoria, as in you will not get high. Over the past years numerous studies have highlighted the potential of CBD, and have been recognized for its benefits on human and animal health.
