CBD Oil in Connecticut: 2026 Laws and How to Buy Lab-Tested CBD
CBD is legal in Connecticut, and you can have it shipped to your door. Connecticut sorts hemp products into tiers by how much THC they contain. Products with less than 0.5 mg of THC per container, like GoGreen Hemp's THC-free CBD, can be sold like any other hemp product. This page explains the tiers, how the rules changed, and how to get our CBD delivered anywhere in Connecticut.
Is CBD Legal in Connecticut?
Yes. Hemp-derived CBD is legal in Connecticut. What matters is how much THC a product contains:
-
Less than 0.5 mg THC per container: sold like regular hemp products. THC-free CBD falls here.
-
0.5 to 5 mg THC per container (moderate-THC): sold only by licensed cannabis businesses or sellers registered with the Department of Consumer Protection, to adults 21 and over.
-
More than 1 mg per serving or 5 mg per container (high-THC): treated as cannabis and sold only at licensed cannabis retailers.
What Changed: Connecticut's Hemp Law Timeline
2023: Public Act 23-79. Connecticut created a "high-THC hemp product" category for products over 1 mg of THC per serving or 5 mg per container, and moved those products to licensed cannabis retailers.
May 11, 2024: Public Act 24-76. The state added a moderate-THC tier and set a 21+ age limit for it:
-
Registered sellers. Moderate-THC products (0.5–5 mg THC per container) can only be sold by licensed cannabis businesses or sellers registered with the Department of Consumer Protection.
-
21 and over. Moderate-THC products can't be sold to anyone under 21.
-
CBD stays open. Products under 0.5 mg THC per container aren't restricted by these tiers.
January 1, 2025: The tiers take effect. Unregistered sales of moderate- and high-THC hemp products became prohibited.
December 11, 2026: Federal changes are coming. Congress has passed a new federal definition of hemp that limits finished products to 0.4 mg of total THC per container. It was set to take effect on November 12, 2026, and has since been pushed back to December 11, 2026. GoGreen Hemp's broad-spectrum products are made to contain 0.0% THC.
