CBD Oil in Louisiana: 2026 Laws and How to Buy Lab-Tested CBD

CBD is legal in Louisiana for adults 21 and over, and you can have it shipped to your door from a permitted seller. Louisiana regulates hemp more closely than most states: every consumable hemp product has to be approved by the Louisiana Department of Health, sellers need a state permit, and since January 2026 labels must link to the product's lab report. This page explains the rules and how to get GoGreen Hemp's lab-tested, THC-free CBD delivered anywhere in Louisiana.

Is CBD Legal in Louisiana?

Yes, for adults 21 and over. Hemp-derived CBD is legal in Louisiana under the state's consumable hemp law, with these rules:

  • 21 and over. Sellers must verify age with a government-issued ID before every sale, including online orders.

  • State-approved products. Every consumable hemp product must be registered with and approved by the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH).

  • Permitted sellers. Stores and online retailers need a permit from the Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control (ATC).

  • THC limits. No more than 5 mg of THC per serving and 40 mg per package, and tinctures are capped at 1 mg of THC per mL.

  • Banned products. Hemp flower, vapes and other inhalable hemp, hemp in alcoholic drinks, and synthetic cannabinoids.

What Changed: Louisiana's Hemp Law Timeline

2019: Act 164. Louisiana legalized industrial hemp and created the state's registration system for CBD and other consumable hemp products.

January 1, 2025: Act 752 takes effect. Signed in 2024, Act 752 (HB 952) raised the buying age to 21 with ID checks, lowered THC limits to 5 mg per serving and 40 mg per package, banned inhalable hemp, and required LDH approval and child-resistant packaging for consumable hemp.

January 20, 2026: New LDH rule. The Department of Health's updated rule requires a QR code, barcode or web address on every label linking to the lab report, adds testing for heavy metals, caps tinctures at 1 mg of THC per mL, and sets new permit rules for in-state and out-of-state processors. Topicals are exempt from serving-size rules.

December 11, 2026: Federal changes are coming. Congress has passed a new federal definition of hemp that limits finished products to 0.4 mg of total THC per container. It was set to take effect on November 12, 2026, and has since been pushed back to December 11, 2026. GoGreen Hemp's broad-spectrum products are made to contain 0.0% THC.
